Cover Letter: Being PositiveDear Reader, I decided to build upon my superpower essay, going more in depth on my own attributes of positivity and how I try to spread those vibes to others in my daily lifestyle. This project allowed me to evaluate myself and decide what I felt was my greatest trait. One thing I enjoyed while writing was having the ability to use real-world examples of anecdotes where it can help me further explain the topic. In my writing, I added a couple of instances where I was able to help others, and gave examples of how the reader can do the same thing. I felt that this essay is the broadest topic of all of my projects, therefore may have a impact on a larger range of audiences. My final goal is to help make an impact in the lives of others and change their perspectives after they read my story. By doing this, they can then use their own opportunities to put forth what I have created examples of through my own personal experiences. I hope that through my writing, it will be simpler for others to understand and implement optimism into their lives. |
Figure 1: Rainy Day SmileAlthough I am writing about being more positive, it can also be looked at through the perspective of ridding negativity. In order to live a more positive lifestyle, it is first important to realize what is holding us back from that, and changing things for the better so that more positivity may arise. Sometimes, negativity can constantly dawn on us, where it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel, but I will be finding examples of negativity and how to be able to overcome it to improve one's mood. I will also be considering what might make someone stay in a constant mood of unhappiness, and what can be done to assist them with their setbacks. By doing this, it also allows me to not only help others, but evaluate myself in order create improvement in my own life and develop my superpower even further.

Formal Letter To My Mom...
Dear Mom,
As I continue my college education here at Cal Poly SLO, I realize that two of the most important attributes to possess throughout schooling are positivity and motivation. Here, it is anything but easy--- and that relates to performing well in class, finding a flexible schedule, and even finding new friends. Sometimes I’m just not sure what to do at all. But, if I am to let anything negatively affect me for too long, I know it can and will result in a domino effect in every single attribute of my life. In moments like these where I start to have difficulties, I think of you as an example of why I should brighten my mood. I think of how you would react if you were in the same situation as me, because I know you would approach them with a more mindful, positive attitude and use your wisdom to get through any hardships more quickly and effectively. Occasionally, I wonder how it is even possible for you to stay so contempt and positive with all of the obstacles and stress being thrown at you in life. Having raised a duo of crazy boys, along with a stressful job and many family members fighting cancer, it’s amazing to see how you keep your sanity. I think that one of the most important things I have learned from you is to not take things so heavily. Instead of dwelling on a problem and letting it become increasingly larger, it’s so much easier to just do something about it to get it resolved, or get the problem off of your mind if it’s out of your own control. It never does me any good to hold a negative attitude and let it spread to others all around me. In fact, it makes myself feel much better to create positivity and help others out. By completing gestures for others to brighten up their day, (That I normally wouldn’t if I was in a bad mood) it can really make a difference in the overall impact of the day ahead of them. So, because of you, Mom, I’m able to be much more productive and have a more enjoyable time during my college experience. You have helped given me the superpower of being positive, which in turn helps me with my motivation and productivity. It’s important to start every day with a hint of happiness because it can make a world of a difference. As I go on here in SLO, I look forward to passing on the lessons you have taught me through your character and making impacts in the lives of my friends and many others as well. Love, Ryan |
